Y tu te fijaste en el escudo del coche?
i tu vas i et fixes en el capó… és que !!!!!
Con lo que me ha costado quitar los reflejos del cristal… ¡Lo que hubiera hecho yo con un polarizador!
Y la profesora? Yo quiero que me enseñe, ya sabes que el saber no ocupa lugar :-)

That’s some paint-job. Love the classic glamour. Gorgeous shot.

A brief essay about pin ball machines, maid-rites and high school girls in the late 50s by robert l. Huffstutter
one of the best things about the location of this used car lot in trenton, missouri in 1958 was the maid-rite hamburger stand just a block east on 9th. While lingering on this lot talking with my uncle frank, i was often overcome by the greasy good smell of the steamed burgers and headed on down the street. There was a most fantastic pin ball machine inside with lots of bumpers and bouncers with illustrations of buxom blondes smiling and lighting up every time they got bounced by one of the pin balls. There was a lot of laughter, malt mixing machine noises and pin ball noise inside the maid-rite. It was the perfect place for sixteen year olds. There were some cute counry girls who lingered around and enjoyed talking to city boys like me. Yes, i told them all about the latest trends, like the pink and black fashion craze. The nearest drive inn movie was in chillicothe, missouri, out of bounds for all of us. Those were great times in the late 50s.
I am not sure about the first car, may-be a Studebaker Champion? The second one is a Ford Custom, I believe…
I like your story of the place!
1948 Studebaker Champion. The Ford is a 1950 model.
I was 8, but I know what you mean…. what I miss most was malt shops… or soda shops whatever they were called… stil have one in Hanford, Calif…. Superior Dairy…..can get light lunch sandwiches still like grilled cheeze, ham and cheeze, etc but mostly it is the locally produced Ice cream on cones, in cups, or in a Shake or Malted…. Pizza hadn’t become real popular yet so the after the little league game reward was the trip to nearest sode shop for milk shakes for all…… Had a English couple visit me last year and I got the delight to turn them on to Root Beer floats …… another delicacy from that era…
hard to reproduce now of days because of the loss of those little local stores and resturants remember the non chain resturants…some were the worse but the long lived ones were the best…
Your uncle Frank is my great grandfather. My grandmother was Ruby Irene Huffstutter Gagnon from Trenton, she then moved to Michigan. Do you have any other pics of Frank and Ruby. My mother is Sharon Irene Gagnon Wooley.
Thank You,
Kelley Lynne Wooley- Hope
HOW GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU…there are a few generations between then and now. I met your Mom at a family reunion and long, long ago on a family vacation with Uncle Frank and Aunt Ruby and the three youngest children. Drove up in a Hudson. That was in early 50s and your grandmother must have been a little girl back then. I did send you an E mail on Flickr so check it out. Otherwise search through my p hotostream for James E Huffstuter, Uncle Frand and Aunt Ruby, Trenton, Missouri, Grundy County, etc. Let me know if you find the photos you might be looking for. Robert
